Lessons from Community Engagement Coaching for Better Solutions Reporting

Drawing from their coaching experience, Modifier’s Community Engagement Team — Derrick Cain, Jingyao Yu and Valerie Dowret — will share strategies to build relationships and increase community participation in the journalism process. By learning from the community, you can surface solutions already happening on the ground and achieve more trustworthy, accurate, and impactful storytelling and reporting. The Kansas City Beacon, one of Modifier’s clients, will also provide a case study for how their community engagement bureau works with reporters to source solutions story ideas in their area.
