Example Collaborative Reporting Agreement

Published October 2022

Broke in Philly has long been considered the gold standard for local news collaboration. Resolve Philly’s model has been replicated by dozens of reporting projects around the globe, and we have developed a set of adaptable best practices for other collaboratives.

The partner agreement available for download below is an example of the contracts used by Broke in Philly. It illustrates the expectations for each newsroom participating in the collaborative and the project’s editorial scope and distinguishes the roles of the facilitating partner (Resolve) and the reporting partners. We encourage other journalism collaborations to use this example as a starting point for their own partner agreements.
